Nathan Thompson

Nathan entered the 12 and under class of The Northern Ireland Brass Band League Solo Competition for the 1^st time on 13^th May 2006. He came 4^th out of 34 contestants, gaining 92 marks out of a possible 100.

Nathan at age nine first auditioned at Newtownbreda Primary School in October 2003 with SEELB tutor Philip Ferguson, to play cornet.

He then sat his grade 2 exam in 2004 and passed with Merit. Nathan then auditioned with Castlereagh Concert Band and on acceptance changed to trumpet.

He sat his grade 3 exam in 2005 and passed with Merit in January 06 and is due to sit grade 5 exam in June

Philip asked if he would be interested in going to play with 1^st Old Boys. Nathan again took up cornet and has been playing with the band ever since. He continues to play trumpet with Castlereagh Concert Band.
